After launching the IdeaPad Gaming 3i laptop (2021) in India last month, Lenovo today announced a ton of new products at its annual Tech World 2021 virtual event. That includes two new laptops, some tablets and a new hybrid Chromebook device that comes with a removable screen. So let’s take a quick look at the main specs and features of these devices.
Lenovo Announces New Laptops, Tablets and a Chromebook
Yoga Slim Series 7 Notebooks
Starting with laptops, the Yoga Sim 7 series includes two models – the Yoga Slim 7 Carbon and the Yoga Slim 7 Pro. The Yoga Slim 7 Pro features a touch-enabled 16-inch QHD screen with support for a 120 refresh rate Hz, while the Yoga Slim 7 Carbon comes with a 14 inch screen with a 90 Hz refresh rate.
Under the hood, the Slim 7 Pro comes with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processor along with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 GPU. The Slim 7 Carbon, on the other hand, comes with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800U mobile processor along with an Nvidia GeForce MX450 GPU. Both devices have up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of SSD storage. While the Yoga Slim 7 Pro comes with microSD slot support to expand storage or enhance your creative workflow, the Slim 7 Carbon doesn’t have this feature.
Coming to the battery, the Yoga Slim 7 Pro can provide 12.5 hours of use on a single charge. The Slim 7 Carbon, however, comes with a long battery life. It can provide up to 14.5 hours of battery life on a single charge. Furthermore, users can find two USB-A ports, one USB-C port and one HDMI port on the Slim 7 Pro. However, the low-cost Slim 7 Carbon comes with just two USB-As and one USB-C.
As for the design, the Yoga Slim 7 Pro weighs about 2.1 kg and is 17.4 mm thick. However, if users want a more portable option, they can go for the Slim 7 Carbon as it comes with a carbon fiber construction and weighs just over 1 kg.
Lenovo Duet 5 Chromebook
In addition to the Yoga laptops, Lenovo also unveiled a new two-in-one Chromebook device – the Lenovo Duet 5. The device has a touch-enabled 13.3-inch OLED panel that can be easily removed from the keyboard to turn it into a Chrome Tablet OS. The Lenovo Duet 5 Chromebook includes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 processor, along with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.
In addition, it comes with an 8 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera for selfies and video calls. There are two USB ports on board the device as well. As for the battery, the Duet 5 Chromebook can run for up to 15 hours on a single charge.
Lenovo P-Series Tablets
Lenovo P11 5G
Along with the new laptops and the hybrid Chromebook, Lenovo also announced two new tablets – the P11 5G and the P12 Pro.
Lenovo P11 5G comes with an 11 inch screen with a maximum resolution of 2000 x 1660p. Under the hood, the device has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G chipset, along with up to 8G of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. Users can also expand internal storage, thanks to the built-in microSD slot. Also, as the name suggests, the device comes with support for 5G and Wi-Fi 6 networks.
In addition, the P11 5G comes with a single 13MP camera sensor on the back and an 8MP front camera. Other than that, you have four JBL speakers on board and one massive 7,000 mAh battery which supports 20W fast charging.
Lenovo P12 Pro
Now, coming to the next generation P12 Pro tablet, it comes in two variants – with or without support for 5G networks. There is a variant of the Wi-Fi-only device launched at the event. It features a 12.6-inch AMOLED panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a maximum resolution of 2500 x 1600p. It also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision technology to provide an immersive viewing experience.
Under the hood, the device includes the Snapdragon 870 SoC paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. Plus, there’s a microSD card slot to further expand the internal storage.
As for cameras, the P12 Pro comes with a dual camera configuration on the back, including a 13MP primary lens and a 5MP ultra-wide lens. For selfies and video calls, the device comes with a 5MP front camera.
Moving on to the battery, the tablet comes with a huge 10,200 mAh battery which supports 45W fast charging. There is also a fingerprint sensor built into the power switch. In addition, there are pogo pins for connecting other accessories, such as the optional keyboard accessory.
Price and availability
While there is no information on when the company plans to make the devices available for purchase, Lenovo has revealed the prices of the devices.
Thus, the Yoga Slim 7 Carbon starts at $1,290 (~Rs. 94,913) and the Slim 7 Pro starts at $1,449 (~Rs. 1,06612) in the United States. The Lenovo Duet 5 Chromebook costs $430 (~Rs 31,637) for the base model.
Moving on to the P-series tablets, the Lenovo P11 5G starts at $590 (~Rs 43,410), while the Wi-Fi-only variant of the P12 Pro starts at $610 (~Rs 44,881).
Lenovo will release all of the above devices sometime during the month of October. The new Yoga laptops are Windows 11-based devices and will run the OS out of the box. Although the company has not yet announced an official release date, we can expect Lenovo to start selling these products as soon as Microsoft starts releasing Windows 11 for compatible devices, starting on October 5th.
